hOLA!

On my eighth birthday, I was given a present that would change my life forever.

This was a VHS copy of the film “Edward Scissorhands”. After just the first time watching it, a fire started burning inside me.  This film, took me to another place that I wanted to stay in forever.

What about this movie makes me love it so much? Putting the pieces together, I came to a conclusion.  With the use of hair, makeup and costume a voice was given to this who verbally had very few words to say.   When I came to this realization, I knew that there is nothing else that I would like to do than create for others the emotion I felt and still feel when I watch ”Edward Scissorhands”.

My name is Daniela Castro, Dani Cash for short. I was born in Bogota, Colombia and moved to Miami when I was two years old. Growing up in Miami allowed me to be exposed to live productions, a theater community,  a film community, a dance community and experience with great hair and makeup artists. In search of a school that would allow me to be a part of all these different passions of mine, the choice was clear. I completed my BFA at Savannah College of Art and Design, majoring in Production Design with a concentration in costume. At SCAD, I was able to do both film and theater, working as a costume designer and hair and makeup artist. To extend my knowledge, I then attended Cinema Makeup School in Los Angeles, California.

I now have relocated to Atlanta, Georgia and am currently working in the world of set decoration. I have found another new creative passion through this department as well. I have had the privilege to work with amazing decorators on Sony, Marvel, Netflix, 20 Century Fox and NBC Universal shows.
